journal entry #4 2-24-07

Ok, well I got that RSS feed to work! So where I'm at right now is sort of a cross roads. My story is way to big, I'm married to it . I have decided to remove all of the dialogue for the moment to get a better understanding of where to take the story. I'm having problems with the transtion from the rodeo to the store front. It works fine in my head but on paper it sucks. It's simply to much animation to do in the time frame that I have to work with. Plus it sort of gets the viewer lost, I might have cody already on EL Toro laughing at Rowdy. Some of my goals for this week are
1: getting the story ironed out
2: character design cody, needs refining
3: backgrounds design start
4: midterm "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"
For the rest I plan on starting some sculpting in a few days most likly after midterms, I want to send some pics to Marty at Dreamworks of the bull El Toro, I'm thinking of doing him in nurbs, yes I'm out of my F*#%ing mind. Thats it for right now, all the scripts, treatments etc.. are located on my nyu server, I found that it's easier to post them there, pdf wise anyway.

First round rough storyBoards 2-23-07

Ok Every body this should shut blogger down, anyway these are the first roughed out story boards of EL Toro. Yes there is alot but I figured from here I could start to refine the story and get a good look at what I have, better to have somthing to see on paper and go from there.

Character design Rowdy "Rusty" and Cody 2-23-07

Hey all, heres a couple of first round sketches of Rowdy Rusty and Cody. Big beer muscle guy with little kid, I'm happy with Rowdy the boy is not working for me, not innocent enough.

Hello all,
Here is the first design of El Toro. It's a simple silouette of his bodyto get the shape down. From here I'll start working on the turn arounds, profile etc...I like how the body looks, gives him a fearsome look, hope it turns out that way when he is modeled. Well take care.

P.S. I forgot, to get a better feel for his body structure I'm going to attempt to model him in clay. This way I have something other then pixels when I'm done

Journal entry # 3 2-18-07

Hey everybody here's the first logo attempt. On another note murphy's law hit me good this weekend. My new HP laptop had it's keyboard crapout "excuse my French" then my internet connection on my other computer wigged out. So in other words it's been a real pain in my you now what, anyway I'm sort of up and back running at 3/4 speed. Here's my first logo that will go on my shirt. See ya all this week.

Journal entry #2 2-16-07

Hey there everybody well this week was as I would put it in the dumper. Had a snow day on wed so I could not go over my refined story ideas with mitch. The good that came out of this week is that I was able to get my character designs pretty much where I want them. Saturday I will post the designs along with the logo that I have been working on, it's sort of a work in progress, not sure that I'm going to use it for the final thesis but at least I have some concepts for the look. Well thats about it for now, I'm going to try to post work at least three times a week, it's just that the week goes by so fast it's Friday before you know it. Thats it for now folks talk to you all later

Thesis Journal entry #1 star date 2-9-07

Hey all fellow pre-vis classmates. This the first entry for myself in our pre-vis thesis class. Just getting the blog back up and in action for the next 10 months of hell that we all will be going through, in the end it will all be worth it. As for where I'm at real quick, my script is taking good form, it's on the fifth revision. Storybords are real rough but it's helping with the timing alot. Character design has been well under way for the last six months, I will start posting some of the images in the next couple of weeks for feed back. The only problem I'm seeing at the moment is that I'm getting my ass handed to me in the character 1 animation class, every week of my crappy animation with a simple ball I take another charater it seems out of my thesis. It's good though to read some of the horror stories that the Nine Old Men went through doing the great animations of Snow White, Pinocchio,etc.. One teacher told me some years back that it takes ten years to become a good animator. Other then this all seems to be going some what ok, ask me in Dec again when I'm seeing my shrink! Oh well see ya all in class
