Journal entry #14 8-26-2007

I'm back,
Really I'v been back a couple of weeks from Siggraph. I had a great time met a lot of new people and met up with some friends from school. It's now crunch time for the thesis, I'm preety much done helping my buddy for the summer. I made some extra cash need some more though. As for work dome it's been going good knock on wood. I have the rough storyboards done, took me two whole days to draw out over 130 boards but it is such a help to see the camera angles and the postions of the character before you start animating. Heck some of the or a lot of the boards I plan on using as key frames in my animation. I need to spend a day cleaning them up for the final book but I know what I want and don't want for shots now. I recomend that every body should draw out a set of story boards, they don't have to be neat. I used a stick figure on steriods so to speak but it saves so much time instead of sitting in front of the screeen going how do I want to do that shot. As for progress I very happy where I'm at right now, I figure that I'm only a week or a week and a half behind where I want to be. If nobody f@#%ing bothers me next week I will be caught up. Week after that is school, I need to take a few days to practice some animation techniques I'll admit that was a something I did not do as much as I wanted to over the summer. I did do animation testing on Rowdy and was doing testing on a swinging sign but that was with dynamics and the pin constraint. What I have done is as follows, background modeling done!!!!! background texturing 90% done, need some wood textures thats it, I'm hoping that with the speed of the action I can cheat a little. EL Toro modeling is done plus his blend shapes for the mouth postions such as anger, frowns and some lip syncing basic phonemes, all toghther there is 30 blend shapes total time 2 days. Art direction is done some stuff here and there, need some more referance from the rodeo. One more time there, a 3D animatic for the final look before animating begins which will take place this week. The biggest challange this last week of August is the rigging of EL Toro, That starts early Monday morning, that has to be perfect. I'm sort of scared about that because this is what the whole story is about this bull. I took extra long because I wanted the model to look good. That about it for tonight., I'm posting some images of progress to show where I'm at and the look of the animation at this moment. Ill be posting about every other day from now on.

Its almost here time to panic!!!!!!!
